Since February 15, 2025, Morocco has revised the Dispute Resolution Policy applicable to domain names under .MA and المغرب. to incorporate new measures.
Expansion of Scope
The regulation no longer applies solely to domain names under .MA but now also covers domains under المغرب. (the Arabic name for Morocco as a national top-level domain extension).
Broadened Protection Criteria
Previously, complainants had to prove a registered trademark right in Morocco. Now, the regulation also includes trade names and protected geographical indications in Morocco, thereby strengthening the protection of economic actors and local products against abusive registrations.
Simplification of Proof Requirements
Unlike other similar procedures, the complainant no longer needs to establish both registration and bad faith use of the disputed domain name. Demonstrating one of these elements is sufficient to obtain a favorable ruling. With a lighter burden of proof, this measure enhances the legal protection of business signs.
Language of the Procedure
The maDRP procedure is conducted exclusively in French.
