The Argentinian registry unexpectedly opened the registration of .ar domains and launched a sunrise period for .ar domain names.
Until today, only third-level domains were available to register in Argentina, mainly .com.ar and .net.ar. The registry operator decided to open the registration of .ar domains with the following launch phases:
Sunrise period – 11 September to 9 November 2019
Domains available to all corresponding domains in .com.ar, .net.ar domains registered before 1 December 2015.
Landrush period – 25 November 2019 to 23 January 2020
Domains available to all at premium price.
General availability – 23 February 2020
Domains available to all regular price.
In order to safeguard your rights in Argentina, we strongly suggest to register your brands under .ar.
The Registry simultaneously dropped the restriction on the length of domain names, and 1 to 3 characters domains will now be authorized.
