Australia: domain.au available from March 2022

auDA, the Australian registry in charge of the .AU domain names, has announced that second-level domain names such as nom.au will be available from March 2022. Only natural and legal persons demonstrating a local presence in Australia will be eligible. From 24 March 2022 to 24 September 2022, current domain name holders (e.g. nom.com.au, nom.org.au, etc.) will benefit from a priority allocation process to register the corresponding domain names. In the event of a conflict, the parties will be invited to engage in direct negotiation, and, if necessary, they may resort to the auDRP procedure.
