The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center Launches Domain Name Dispute Resolution Service for .AD.
As of September 5, 2024, the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center provides domain name dispute resolution services for .AD under the .ad Dispute Resolution Policy (“adDRP”), the Rules for .ad Dispute Resolution Policy (“adDRP”), and the Supplemental Rules of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center for .ad (“WIPO adDRP Supplemental Rules”).
This new service marks a significant step in ensuring the protection of intellectual property rights online in the Andorran country code top-level domain (ccTLD). The policy provides trademark holders and other concerned parties with an efficient and fair mechanism to resolve disputes over .AD domain names.
This new policy is particularly interesting as Andorra will open the registration of .ad domain names without any conditions starting October 16, 2024. The goal is to liberalize domain registrations while effectively combating abuse.
Until October 16, registered trademark holders can apply for the registration of their domain names with priority.
