.HOTEL : Fegistry, Radix, and Domain Venture Partners v. ICANN

Three registries applying for the delegation of the .HOTEL (Fegistry, Radix, and Domain Venture Partners) sued the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in the California Superior Court in Los Angeles (icann.org).

The claimants blame ICANN for a series of contract breaches, including the failure to put in place mechanisms to review board decisions relating to the allocation of new gTLDs. ICANN strongly disputes these allegations (icann.org). However, the nature of the requests creates, vis-à-vis ICANN, a climate of mistrust, which is reinforced by the authorization recently given by ICANN to Donuts to acquire Afilias, this latter also being a candidate to the .HOTEL delegation (iptwins.com, 2021-02-19).

The court decided that no hearing would occur before the end of this year (icann.org).
