The UK Domain Name Dispute Resolution Service unveiled figures for the year 2018 (Nominet.uk). The DRS team administered 671 procedures, which is the lowest volume since the service was created. The year 2012 remains a dark year with 818 procedures. Domain names were transferred in 49% of cases.
Nominet indicates an assessment of the costs that the parties have avoided paying by choosing the DRS to the detriment of legal proceedings, which is 6,000,000 £.
It should also be noted that almost all the defendants indicated an address in the United Kingdom.
The next statistical report will be particularly awaited. It is likely that opening the .UK top-level domain will result in an increase in the number of procedures.
